The Pennatus Project has been using automatic cameras to study the booted eagle in Valladolid since 2019. These cameras, adapted to operate at altitude and powered by solar energy, allow recording for months without the need to access the nests again, avoiding disturbance to the birds.
Thanks to this system, the team has been able to obtain valuable information about the species: what prey the adults provide, the behavior of the chicks, the dynamics of each pair or the presence of other birds in the nest environment. All the work is carried out with the necessary permits and a thorough knowledge of the species to ensure its welfare.
For the first time in Mallorca, the project will install a new camera with night vision and greater storage capacity, which will continue to provide unpublished data on this fascinating bird of prey.
