Eco farmers avoid 228.6 km of plastic

Eco farmers avoid 228.6 km of plastic mulch by opting for a biodegradable version of it

For the fourth consecutive year and thanks to the collaboration with APAEMA, a grouped order of biodegradable plastic mulch has been coordinated for its use, mainly in organic vegetables.

This year, 21 farms have taken part. The balance is 228.6 kilometres of biofilm (weighing 4,020kg), which avoids its equivalent in conventional plastic, mostly polyethylene.

This plastic is traditionally used in agriculture to avoid competition between horticultural crops and spontaneous plants, protects the soil and keeps it warm.
